Mike Thomas Brown is for real
(My Original Blog Post: http://promma.info/?p=10924)

Mike Thomas Brown did tonight at WEC 39 what no other man has been able to do, he finished Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia. Not only did he finish him, he demolished him in the first round of a five round featherweight title fight.
Garcia was coming off a very impressive win over Jens Pulver and his only three losses have come by decision to fighters like Cole Miller and a war that people still talk about that made the cover of Sport's Illustrated with Roger Huerta. Garcia was a slight underdog coming into WEC 39 but probably no one expected the fight to end so quickly. He's known for his toughness, he's known for slugging it out, being able to take punishment, and to keep going.

Marcus Hicks vs. Rob McCullough: The great fight that almost was
(My Original Blog Post: http://promma.info/?p=10890)
Marcus Hicks vs. Rob McCullough; the fight started off very slow with both guys circling and circling and circling and circling, throwing feints, and jabs that weren't meant to land. For some reason, they would not engage each other. This is often called the "feeling out" period, except their "feeling out" period lasted the entire first round.
The second round from Hicks vs. McCullough was an amazing round. Hicks landed a big overhand punch that dropped McCullough, instead of going for ground and pound to try and finish him off, Hicks tried to secure a guillotine choke to submit the former lightweight champion. McCullough survived and Hicks found himself underneath his opponent eating a few punches.

Now that the heavier WEC weight classes have been merged with the UFC, the lighter weight class fighters will be getting more chances to shine. It may take some time to get used to a lot of these new names, but these little dudes can scrap! Little guys like bantamweights, Marcos Galvao and Damacio Page are going to show the world what 135 pounds of solid muscle and speed can do.
